Meet Kim Davis
Do you know those people who have always known what they wanted to do and whose life was mapped out ahead of them from an early age? I used to think I was one of those people.
Unfortunately, the universe had other ideas and, when things didn’t go as planned, I felt rudderless. It was like my life was propelled into a pinball machine bouncing off the ideas, suggestions and whims of those around me. This became my decision-making pattern for almost 30 years when I finally realized that, although I didn’t know what I wanted to do, I knew I didn’t want to keep living the life I was living.
So, I quit my job and decided to take control to figure out what my passions are and how to live a more meaningful life. I took this time to explore various interests. After a couple of years, my old boss unexpectedly asked me to come back to the job I had left. By this time, I was running out of savings and hadn’t yet discovered my purpose, so I said yes. I felt like I was back in that pinball machine.
Instead of a new path, I found myself retracing my steps. But, I was determined to make this time different. I was fully committed to turn this “set back” into an opportunity. I continued exploring and found myself strongly drawn to coaching and signed up for a class. After this first course, I felt like I had finally found what I am meant to do….my a-ha moment. I began researching programs until one day I received an email about a new Martha Beck Wayfinder Life Coach Training program. I had been a fan and follower of Martha Beck for many years, so this seemed like a no-brainer.
I recently completed the coaching course and am currently in the process of becoming certified as a Martha Beck Life Coach and I could not be happier. Although I am new to life coaching, people have always seemed to be drawn to me to share their stories. Now, in addition to being a good listener, I have tools and techniques to help people make changes and take steps to reach their full potential and live a more meaningful and gratifying life.
Even when you think you have your life path all figured out, something happens, either an external or internal catalyst, that shakes up your priorities and presents you with an opportunity to change the trajectory of your journey, even if it might not feel like an opportunity at the time. Working together, you will develop skills and the confidence to make transitions along your life’s journey with intention and direction and not because you’re bouncing off someone else’s whim like a bumper in a pinball machine.
